I completely agree with your analysis of the rise of anti-intellectualism and its negative impact on society! It's disheartening to see the devaluation and mistrust of intellect, education, and expertise, especially in a world that desperately needs evidence-based solutions to complex problems. While it's important to make education and intellectual pursuits more accessible and inclusive, dismissing academia and promoting ignorance is not the answer. We need to prioritize critical thinking, evidence-based reasoning, and respect for expertise in order to make informed decisions and create a better future for all. Ultimately, I really enjoyed reading your piece!

Yes exactly! And I think we ARE getting there. I have hope that education, will become not only more accessible but we’ll encourage other intellectual pursuits.

It really seems like a retaliation agains women in academia. What I mean is that when cishet men see women and LGBT+ people flourishing in liberal universities more than they are they feel insecure. I could get into the reasons to why men are losing influence in academia (maybe because they escape through video games and incel content only and don't truly engage with materials), but what I think matters most is that they are dismissing intelectualism as an inferior form of engaging with life. CisHet Men seem to be perceiving their little niche internet creators as truth-tellers that are more savvy than professors because they feel threatened by the takeover of women in academia. It pisses me off!!!

The left has been captured by this idea that they can change/control language to be weaponized against anyone that doesn't vote for them.

-Anti-intellectualism

-a vote for Trump is vote against democracy

-democracy dies in darkness (WAPO)

-If you don't take the vaccine, you're anti-science

All of this starts with Academia and any dissenting view points are suppressed. It percolates throughout the media landscape. Journalists no longer report things objectively and buy into access-journalism. They rub elbows with Washington politicians to gain access and be close to power.

This country wasn't built on the Elite class and they turn their nose up at the very thought of somebody challenging them. This is why democrats continue to lose the middle class and marginal populations.

Trump is no different.
